When you set up your D-link extender using the dlinkap.local web address, the setup wizard gives you two different options to sync your extender. These are:

  • Sync using the WPS method
  • Sync using the manual Steps

Now, in order to proceed with both of these methods, you’ll first need to prepare your devices. Below are some instructions you can follow:

  • Plug the D-Link range extender into the power outlet located in the location you prefer.
  • In your personal computer or wireless device, navigate to your network settings, and then connect to the D-Link Wireless Range Extender network.
  • After you have joined the range extender’s local area network, start a web browser and enter http://dlinkap.local in the address bar.
  • Click Enter to open the online D-Link extender management page. If the Dlink WiFi extender setup wizard does not open with dlinkap.local, it is possible to choose your default address i.e. 192.168.0.50.
  • On the main screen, you can enter the details for your admin account. For the Username field, you may select “admin” and it is the same as the Password field, too. Click “Log in” after you have completed it.
  • The main page of the setup wizard will appear. Click “Setup Wizard” on the left-hand side.
  • It will appear that the Wi-Fi connectivity Setup Wizard window will appear on the screen. Click “Next”.

After the router’s connection network has been established the LED will cease to blink and will change to a solid green.

The process could take up to 2 minutes, as the extender must join both bands in some instances.

Since the two devices are in sync with one and can access the internet from any part of your house if it meets the proper placement specifications.
